Winter can take it’s toll on our skin, as well as our mental health, and it can be hard to make time for ‘you’. We all know how important it is to take some time out for ourselves, to relax and recharge and to give ourselves some self-care; but actually making the time is the difficult bit!

Do you often find yourself thinking that you need to take some time out but struggle to find the time, and when you do, you don’t know what to do? Follow these simple steps and give yourself an at-home spa experience in a fuss-free, easy way! If there’s something that you don’t have, skip the step or improvise, there are no rules to self-care.

One of the most beneficial things to do is to clear up your space, straighten out the bed, plump the cushions and light a nice candle. Your space is an extension of your energy, if you want to relax, this is a great place to start. Get yourself a glass of water, put on your favourite music and if you have a diffuser, why not add some nice oils.

  1. Cleanse your skin! To start my at-home spa routine, I like to cleanse my skin with coconut oil and take off any makeup or dirt from the day. Coconut oil is a really soft and gentle cleanser and is great for sensitive skin. It’s also totally natural, so you don’t need to worry about harsh chemicals and fragrances. Once you’ve cleansed, why not cleanse again? Take your favourite face wash and wash off any residual dirt and oil. This gives you the perfect base for the next step!

2. Facial Steam! A floral facial steam is the perfect way to relax. Not only is it great for your skin, to give you a radiant glow, but it’s a really nice way to incorporate some gentle aromatherapy into your routine. Get yourself a heatproof bowl, some frehshly boiled water and a clean towel. Choose from either Meadow Flower Blend or Moon Flower Blend and use it according to the directions on the label. Take a breath and revel in the fragrant steam, bursting with botanicals to uplift, relax and revitalise you.

3. Set the tone! Now that your skin is cleansed and fresh, using a toner is a gentle way to soothe and settle your skin. Rose water is a great natural toner, soothing and relaxing and suitably luxurious for your pamper session! You can skip this step, or use a splash of water, whatever suits you! You could even use one of our Botanical Mists to spritz around and refresh, being careful around the eye area.

4. Boost your moisture! Make sure to lock in that moisture with your favourite cream or oil and drink some water! If you want extra spa-vibes, add a slice of cucumber or lemon to your water.

5. Sit back and relax! Now that your skin is cleansed and soothed, it’s time for your mind! Sit quietly for a few moments and take some deep breaths, this is your time. Perhaps you’d like to put on a meditation or some relaxing music, whatever you do, make sure it is for you!
